Protecting the gear: Power conditioners/UPCs/etc

I currently have all my gear(e-mu 1820m, rane ms1b, RNC, computer) powered from a decent surge protector.

I recently splurged and bought a few nice items(A-Designs MP-2 and Kurzweil Rumour) and now feel a greater need to protect my gear from power surges, etc.

What do you all recommend? A nice UPS? A top-notch surge protector?

Will a decent power conditioner, like the Furman ML-8, provide decent protection?

I just want to be sure my gear doens't get zapped.

Price range up to, say, $200.

Thanks!

I like the APC line of UPS's. Very reliable, and not too expensive.

I've been using a Belkin UPS with a couple of ART power conditioners for a couple years now with no problems.

a little more food for thought...............
