I got the 3rd gen 20 gig from Best Buy. I love it, use it in the car everyday with an fm tuner thingy although I lose a bit of quality that way. Mines already full tho, but thats okay since you can put on/take off anything you want. I wish the EQ was more versatile. It has games on it! Its pricy, but hey how else can you transport that much music in your pocket?

I have the second Gen Windows iPod 20 gig. I only use it in the car to listen to books. I have had it almost three years and I love it. Apple is sending me $25 because the battery doesn't last as long as it should.

I have the 60 gig iPod Photo, the current generation. It's great, kind of changed my life in a way. I have most of my CD collection on it now and am listening to more music than I have in years. Really love the thing.

I got an ipod shuffle for Fathers Day. I guess my daughter felt guilty about leaving her first generation ipod at the bus stop! The shuffle only holds about 100 or so songs but for $99 bucks it does the trick. And it's about the size of a pac of gum! Still, it's nothing like crusing down the street in 1981 with Joy Division blaring through a Sony Walkman! The first experience with portable audio is always the best and the most surreal.

20 Gig, no clue as for generation. I love it. Straight up love. I credit it for making me the music fan I am. Yes its pricey, but fuck, I carry my entire collection around. Can't beat a portable mp3 player.

Mine goes everywhere with me too, in the car, on the airplane, wherever. Any kind of travelling is more pleasant with the iPod I've discovered. Having my whole music collection at hand at any time is a great thing!

They are incredible music tools too. Whenever I'm doing a show I put the soundtrack in the iPod and have an instant reference whenever I need it. They are great for easily carrying around tracks for people to listen to as well.

I have a Mini (the old 4GB one). I probably wouldn't have ever bought one, but my mom got it for me as a Christmas gift. I love it. Sure, it doesn't have the capacity of my friend's 80GB iPod Photo, but its half the size, lighter, and I don't feel the hard drive spinning when it accesses songs. Besides, if I can't find something to listen to in the 1300 or so songs I have on it, something is wrong. I also love that I can take it to work and plug it into my computer and use it as a portable hard drive, and store contact info for my friends and family on it. I also set my language to Norsk for a change of pace.

I have a Gen1 Dell DJ 20 GB. It currently has 4163 tracks, 343 albums (double CDs counted as two albums). I listen to it in my car through the cassette adapter (my new 05 RAV4 actually had a tape player in it!) and at work through headphones. Currently listening to Roger Waters' "Amused To Death" (been on a Floyd kick since the Live-8 reunion) My collection is very eclectic (some classic rock ala Creme/Clapton/Floyd/Dead and alot of folk/acoustic/singer-songwriter stuff). I used to have to pick TEN CDs to listen to in the car/vacations/etc.., so it's nice to be able to have EVERYTHING with me.

I've had a 4gb mini for about a month. I bought it as a tax rebate for myself, I was happy as a pig in shit but then one day last week it stopped working now I have to send it away and it's a pain in the ass.

I have a 40gb Creative Zen Xtra. I love it. I also only paid $200 for it. Sure, it's not as pretty and it doesn't have as much neat hardware as an iPod.. but it gets the job done.

I have a Rio Carbon 5GB Player. About 15 hours of battery life. I love it.

I am thinking about getting a IRiver so I can record (wav) to and dump my minidisc.

I've got a 40gb 4th gen iPod, and it has caused me to stop using CD's entirely. Whenever I buy a CD, I take it home, rip it (at 224Kbps CBR), copy to iPod, then put the CD in a box in my closet.

AND I found out that in a pinch, you can use an iPod as an external drive for recording a 12 simultaneous track song! My main external enclosure was having issues at a live gig I was recording and the only other drive available with enough space was my iPod...the little thing was the hero of the day!

I bought a 20Gb @ target a couple months ago, then 2 weeks later I won a 30Gb Photo. My new 30 sounds different than the 20, goes a little louder, sounds cleaner. So I sold the 20 to a friend for $275.

I use a creative zen micro. It has a removable battery, which is great since you don't need to send it back to apple to swap it out when it dies, the way you do with the ipod. It also has better sound quality (higher s/n ratio) than the ipods.
