Another Brick thread

I have had my Brick for about a month.

So far I have used it for:
Acoustic guitar DI in studio - very good
Electric guitar DI in studio - fantastic
Electric bass DI in studio - fantastic
Electric Bass DI live - fantastic
Vocal mic pre in the studio - with Sennheiser MD 441 - fantastic
Upright Bass (with crummy Fishman BP100) live - as good as can be expected with crummy pickup
Mandolin mic pre (schertler DYN M) live - a little bright, but I am getting to like it.

Last night I used it as a DI live with my strat at a rehearsal. It was absolutely beautiful. The best clean sound I have gotten with an electric guitar - with wonderful dynamic range.

It has been an extremely useful and versatile box. I am sure there are better pre's and DI's out there, but I am very happy with it.

Hiwatt Bob is on a distinguished road
i had a question or an observation on my "Brick" thread that seemed to go unnoticed, but i think it's worthwhile.

i took a peek inside and noticed that the 12au7 tube is labelled:

12au7
ecc83/7025

the european code for a 12au7 should be ecc82.
ecc83/7025 are codes equivalent to a 12ax7, which has significantly higher gain. i can't imagine why this tube is labelled this way--any know anything about this??

Aspen Pittman is a wily salesman. He wants his tubes to be all things to all people.

So you ride yourselves over the fields and
you make all your animal deals and
your wise men don't know how it feels to be thick as a brick.

Back to the howling old owl in the woods
Hunting the horny back toad
Oh I've finally decided my future lies
Beyond the yellow brick road

You're off to see the Wizard, the Wonderful Wizard of Oz
You'll find he is a Whiz of a Wiz if ever a Wiz there was
If ever, oh ever, a Wiz there was the Wizard of Oz is one because
Because, because, because, because, because
Because of the wonderful things he does
You're off the see the wizard, the Wonderful Wizard of Oz
