adat optical??????????

im new to the adat optical stuff and i have an alesi m20 adat. i was wondering if i hook the adat up through my soundcard.via adat optical. do i really get 8 more usable recording chjannels recording straight in my pc see...if not please explain?

i'm not sure if its extra tracks, i think that depends on the souncard, but it is true that adat lightpipe (also refered to as optical) can transfer 8 seperate tracks via a single cable.

yea, depending on the sound card, you're bassically useing your adat as converters, and you'll still need 8 pre amps
