mixing board for preamps

what is some good mixing boards with preamps so i can run to my digi 001 for drums mostly. outputs for each channel is perfered but i can also buss if needed like i said im mostly using for drums and just want some good preamps. so please just give me some ideas so i can look into them.

budget?

cheap: yamaha mg series

more expensive: soundcraft

better: mackie onyx

Does it have to be a mixing board? I think if you loose all the unnecessary knobs and just by outboard pre amps you'll be better of. a 1000 dollar of seperate preamps is ofcourse better than a 1000 dollar mixing desk.

there's some real nice soundcraft, smaller series mixers with great pre's. and mackie you really can't go wrong.... notbradsohner's rgiht though, onyx if you got some cash... although same goes for that soundcraft. ha.

I have a Yamaha MG. I gotta say it sounds really good. I don't mean "it doesn't suck", I mean it sounds good. I can clearly hear a difference above my old Mackie.

Why not get a M-Audio Octane or similar 8ch pre and run the inputs into the ADAT lightpipe in of the Digi 001. Works great for me (I use the 002R but still..). Unless you're planning on using the mixer for other stuff (live sound, signal routing, etc) it's kinda overkill.

The Behringer ADA8000 is okay (the pres are surprisingly good considering price and brand) too if you have less cash.
