The OLD Cool Edit Pro

Hi All... I've been on and off of here many times trying to find my way into the world of home recording.

Technology and the apparent trend for virtually EVERY one and every thing to be owned by one gigantic worldwide corporation have left me in the weeds......

What is the absolute worst case scenario from trying to reload and use my old CEP which I liked very much?

I realize there's no support for it from Adobe and whatever the hell they call cool edit now.

But if it works ok, what's the problem?

I like the way it worked and I don't like Sonar and YOU-Endo etc......

any other stubborn die hards out there?

cool edit is good for what it does and it's age but technology has come a long way.......sonar 4 pe is pretty damn good all around. as are alot of other newer applications. if cool edit does everything you want, all the better. the main thing i liked about cool edit was how easy it was to learn. in my opinion, it's no where near as powerful as the newer stuff.

.....worst case scenario, you might get some recording done without spending a bunch of money on the newest software.

El Jefe will become famous soon enough
I use it and get some decent recording done! I have the newer version, and cakewalk...but the old CEP is fast and easy.

Talking

It will also run on minimally efficient computers. I put in a lot of hours and months with the old CEP, but I am happily using AA 1.5 now. I think I would not have gotten much out of it when I was starting out with recording on a computer, but that was then.

Worst case I think would be is that you lost the serial and couldn't re-boot it

Quick question..........with Adobe Audition 1.5 I read somewhere that it can do loop recording like Acid, and it is just as easy. True or False? And I read that on one of the 1000's of forums I look at, so I can not tell ya where I read it. Thanks!

Still using CEP1.2a. It does all I need, easy to use and stable. Since I do not use any midi at all, this is the perfect tool.

hybridsound is infamous around these parts
I still use CEP2.0 for all of my recording. It's so well rounded and it's so easy to use. I tried to use Sonar 3 PE but it was really hard to use and didn't want to work with my PC. CEP works no matter what! It has never failed me! Long live CEP!!!

"I have all these loops from the Loopology days."

I was surfing ebay and see that every now and then a version of CEP 2.1 comes up for sale with the Loopology cd's. Is there no way to convert them to waves? I heard there were some good sounds on those CD's..................................

I do not understand - all my *.cel files from Loopology work fine with my Adobe Audition 1.5! What kind of error are you getting? What does it say?

I have been cleaning out my cd-r's and ran across some loopology loops that I downloaded a long time ago (yes they are legal). I reloaded CEP and loaded some loops, selected and opened the editor, and saved them as .wav files. Worked like a charm...

CEP and Sonar 4

Aside from the whole MIDI issue, what can SONAR 4 do with audio recording and wave editing that CEP can not do?

I've got CEP 2.0, and I've also got the Adobe Audition "update", but I've not installed it yet,...is there any advantage or dissadvantage to doing this?

Keep in mind I've not used any of this yet, I'm still in the process of setting things up.

Thanks,
Rick
