Firepod troubleshooting

So I'm trying out my firepod and all I can get is a horrible sounding continuous scratching sound over the recorded part. I've tried different mics and running it direct in rather than through my board but no luck. I had to buy a 6-4 pin firewire cable since my laptop doesnt have the 6 pin insert. Could this be the problem?

Check latency settings, background processes eating CPU time and disable all of your plugins... the cable is not the problem, as I am using the same setup.

We figured it out. The computer wasnt recognizing the firepod as an output device. We had to change the output on Cakewalk to recognize AISO devices.
