Mid-lo range mic/pre/interface combo for hip hop?
What would it be ? Not too sterile, warm if possible and clean... Kind of oldschool lo mid accent...

penthouse, I'd vote for a [ $328 ] M-Audio Tampa, with pre/comp/dig out and an [ $250ish ] ADK Vienna or Hamburg mic. That's the least expensive solution you can buy for something that will give excellent results. All of them are the best products in their class for the qualities you described.
