Pocket acoutic groove
I did this last night with (gasp
) two 17 year olds on gtr and bass and a 15 year old on the drums!I had to ride them alot on staying in the pocket, but i think they did pretty good. http://www.lightningmp3.com/live/56871_01track0112.mp3 -Finster Last edited by xfinsterx; 06-23-2005 at 11:39.. |

Just got back in and will be writing you soon Finster, but wanted to comment on this. I always like recordings that sound like the musicians are right here, with me in the room, not whooshing in and out of proximity with my ears through the heavy compression/release thing that makes parts artificially swell to fill any available space. The ac gtr doing the intro, for example, is gentle and understated - it makes you say "Hey, wait a second, what's that?", and then when you're really listening, the thing starts up in earnest. It's like it clears the wall of crap and turns the spotlight on before the painting's hung there in the gallery.
And those kids are good musicians. Tim

I'm digging this...Nice groove...Sounds like something that should have been on Led Zep III. Just waiting for Plant to come in. At one point the drummer goes to half time on his high hat for some reason, that sounds a bit forced. But when he's riding naturally, it sounds great, especially that big swooshy ride cymbal near the end. There's something clicking in the right speaker once in a while. When it happens, it's on the "2" with the snare, but it's not the snare. It might be the click of the stick hitting the ride or maybe a pick hitting a pick-up or something. Is that a fretless bass??? I like it...I'm just nit-picking with my commentary, there's ceretainly not much to critiscise. I like it.

HHHMMMM......Wish I had some comments besides Nice, and Good Job, but don't. So, nice, and good job. I'd give you shit for leaving the s out of acoustic, but if you buy me beer, I won't tell anyone....
Very nice playing there. I think you captured these guys very well. The levels of all the instuments were spot on. Everything is very clear. They did a nice job writing, and playing a very pretty sounding tune. The mix is great as usual. Very even. Fix the s now.... Ed
