using onboard sounds

i own a djx and a microKORG and i have yet to hook them up to my mac, but i plan to this weekend...

i'm new to computer based production..so i'm confused on some things.

1. can i use the onboard sounds of the djx and microKORG real time? or just as controllers??

2. what program is best? i heard of cubase, metro and some others for the mac but i'm not sure. i need a simple sequencer that works.

if any can help me i'd be grateful.

I know you can use the microKorg sounds, but I'm not sure about the DJX. If Yamaha provided that with midi clock input you will be able to sync it by putting it in 'slave' or 'external clock' mode. As far as the Korg goes, you'll need to turn the local off before you can use the internal sounds. The place to do that is somewhere in the global settings, and setting the local to 'off' will break the connection between the keyboard and the sounds inside.

As far as sequencers go, try what I use. It's called Tracktion, and it's for both Mac and PC. You can download a demo version here and see if you like it as much as I do. If you do, buy it here.

You are quite impatient. We donate our time here when not working on our own music, so you need to give us time to answer...

Here's a link to the USB powered audio/midi interface I use, and this one comes highly recommended too. Here is another one for good measure.
