i am buying microphones

i am the thug with the Mbox... i'm going to be recording a full rock band setup. i am going to buy an SM57, and probably two condensers.

should i get 2 LDM's and X-Y them for drum overheads?

i need something affordable that will give me a nice response... i'd also like the ldm to double as a vocal mike.

any ideas?

NT5s are fine ... I prefer Studio Projects C4s for the money ... but neither are going to give you great vocals.

Studio Projects B1 and Audio Technica AT4033 are two that spring to mind for a versatile OH / vocal crossover.

Yo Dude of Noisey mics: [only kidding]

The SHURE KSM 32 will give you a good vocal response, if you pump it through a decent mic pre.

Also, I've noted over the past three years, that the AKG 4000 does not go down in price and has been recommended by many folks on this site, excluding AKG dealers, and I think it must be a pretty good mic to withstand time and a big price cut.

The RNC compressor will also give you a great performance for its low price.

PS DUDE: Just made some green SUN TEA; stop by for a cup.

I'm up for some of that!

Hey, is the Hornetto Dog going to the Jamfest in August? I'm trying to scrape together for a plane ticket, and it would be very cool to meet the Stinging Green one.

YO Dude of SMOOO"OTH noise:

I don't think I can make the festival; however, if you go, let me know and I'll call you on my Nextel cell phone, hoping you have a cell phone, and say hello.

Cheers,

Green Hornet

My vote goes to the CAD M179. This mic is a great multi-purpose mic and I've used it on vox and as a drum overhead and was very pleased with it's performance.

Yo Dude [and et.al.}

These guys, {maybe} must be drinking motor oil.

It's terrible when a friendly note is construed as a flated fifth or ninth.

All my girlfriends watch this site.

These commentaters must use only 900 lixiviated numbers.

You devised that entire post just to get this line in, didn't you?!

I can't say I particularly worry about it ... if someone is so afraid of homosexuality that two other blokes can't even be conversationally friendly with each other, then the problem is not with those two other blokes.
