Saturation control in an EQ ?

hi, I have this great EQ I use with Sonar, a freebie from Kjaerhus called the Classic.
It has a button named "warm" which I keep on, and can hear the difference,
but has another button "SAT" for Saturation. I did some headphone tests on a dry solo vocal to play around with SAT but I honestly can't tell a difference yet. But there must be something to it right?
I thought saturation was only related to compressors

How/why does Saturation play with EQ?? Is it something to do with the "warming up of digital" ?
thanks alot

Hi alan - maybe you have to get closer to 0dbfs for the saturation to kick in - or maybe present the EQ with a more complex mix than a single track...like a full mix or something?

I've tested it out and it seems to be a little more sublte than what you're looking for possibly.

Maybe comparing to free RubyTubes would give you an idea - Ruby uses more distortion and isn't subtle. Then for a few $$ there is Cakewalks old Tapesim (my top shelf warmer) or Voxengo Warmifier (or Voxformer for that matter)...
