Why are you using Sonar 1.0?

None of Cakewalk's products support VST plugins natively. They all require the use of a VST/DX adapter.

However, a VST adapter has been bundled with Sonar from version 3.0 forward.

Still using 1.0 because I can't deal with the hassle of an upgrade. I have everything working the way I like it, and don't want to upset the proverbial applecart.

Do you guys have any idea how much a vst/dx adapter might go for? Are there any free versions available online?

Thanks for the help.

There are some free ones available, but most are quite limited. For example, they may not be able to do VSTi's. Or they may only allow one VST plugin per project.

Cakewalk sells the VST adapter that is bundled with Sonar 3/4 on their web site for $39 for registered Sonar customers. That is the way I would go if I realy felt Ihad to have VST plugins.

Here's a free one if you still want at it:
