Delay In recording?

I am using Sonar 4 and was previously using Home Studio 2000...And when I layer tracks such as guitar first and then add the drums seperatly, I notice a delay in recording like the drums are off time. I have a pretty decent audio card its not integrated and Im going out of my board RCA to 1/8th inch into my soundcard. Any suggestions with either the program or just getting some new computer recording hardware?

Try making the drum track into a groove clip and just slide it into sync.

Sounds like latency. What kind of CPU/memory are you running.

Try turning Input Monitoring off, that should help.

Exactly...what is your recording method?

Which audio card are you using? (1/8" sound like a PC type card...not always bad).

You play and record guitar...then, you add drums (acoustic or canned?).

When you play guitar, what are you using for a metronome or "other" time keeper? I like to play out a simple click track from my recording app and then play to it.

Trying to figure out if you're having a midi synch issue and/or latency problem or is it in the method.

luv ya baby.

TravisK is on a distinguished road
likely it is latency of the card/pc as stated. most consumer cards are not made for perfect timing...

enter a word clock.

It probably and I'm guessing it is latetncy.... So I'm guessing a new sound card would probably be a good investment? I mean I'm using 1 gig of ram and my cpu is like 3.2ghz so i'm not too bad as far as speed but yeah...
