Crate Bass Head used for Guitar?

Hey, I was wondering if you bassist/guitarists could gimme some advice. My friend has an old Crate Bass head that he doesn't use that I've got my eyeball on. Now, if I was to plug a guitar into it, then have it go to a 4x12 cab, would it sound like total shit? I'm not looking for vintage tube marshall tone here, but something that would allow clean ska tones. All distortion would be from a Boss DS-1. So, do you think its a worthwhile investment?

Thanks for your input.

why don't you try it before you buy it...........

I doubt if it will sound "good" but,..."good " is a subjective term....

lots of guitar player play through bass amps because it can produce that certain sound that guitar amps have a hard time producing. technically, it is possible to run guitars through bass equipment.

I'd say that on the "Fender Bassman" line the guitar player outnumber the bassists 5:1 ... even when its a bass equipment ... give it a shot and see if it fits your bill

cheers

Sure it is possible. You won't hurt a thing. But a bass head is not made to reproduce the higher frequencies of a guitar and it could end up sounding brittle and grainy up high. Just something to keep in mind. Try it and see if you like it.
