Can't record in computer inAA

I am a newbie to computer recording I am trying to record my voice in AA. I can hear myself through the speaker but it will not record in AA. I know i'm suppose to arm the track (by pressing red button) but it's not working.

I will tell you my setup if someone can tell me what i'm doing wrong I would appreciate it.

Alto S-6 6 channel mixer
EMU 0404 soundcard
MCA SP-1 condensor Mic
Alto M-4 Passive Montor
Pioneer receiverf amplifier

My mic is connected to the xlr port I guess you call it
1/4 connectors main mix output to outs on emu 0404 soundcard
1/4 inputs on soundcard (input) into rca inputs on receiver

I can hear mic in speakers but can't record in audition. Go easy on me fellas I am new.

did you arm the track for recording? there are several buttons next to each track in the multi track view. Make sure you click on the little red "R". This will let you record that track and every track that is armed.

Er .. I think the mixer outputs should be connected the soundcard INPUT
and the sound card output to the Pioneer input.
Always connect inputs to outputs.

Can't record in computer inAA

I meant to say mixer output to soundcard inputs, Soundcard output to receiver input. I make sure my track is armed by pressing the red button. It doesn't work any other suggestions?

My voice registers on the mixer but nothing in AA.

You need to go into the Patchmix DSP (soundcard menu), the little blue icon that should show up on your tool bar assuming you installed the card/software correctly. A quick test, will music playback from your monitors when using a player on your computer?
If there is no sound, there are 2 seperate volumes in the Patchmix DSP. The little "monitor Knob" as well the Master slider. Make sure both of those are up.
Next check your wave L/R channel and see if your signal is registering with the card. Assuming you have a signal, you need to do an "Insert Send" on the WAVE L/R channel. Route this signal to the ASIO IN 1/2 Host.
Try that and see what happens. Im doing this from memory so I may have missed something. You may also need to set something in Audition but try that first and report back.

you also have to assign the source for recording along with arming the track.....

did you tell AA where to get the signal from?

Joro is right as well, that was the next step I was going to mention if none of my other suggestions worked out.

Can't record in computer in AA

I checked patchmix dsp and it does recognize that music is playing. I can play from windows media player. I have armed the track in AA for recording. The only thing I don't know if I did correctly was to assign the track for recording. How exactly do I do that?

I did do insert send in patchmixdsp but my options were not route signal to asio IN 1/2 host but asio OUT 1/2 host does that matter?\

I just went to windows (sounds) in the control panel and did the test where it ask you to say a paragraph to see if it identifes your voice. It does not. Is that the problem? For my recording source it has my soundcard the same as the play back source is that the way it is suppose to be or should my microphone be listed somewhere?

Go to Options/Settings and make sure your input device is listed in the right-hand column. If it is not then there is a problem with the signal path. Once the input device is recognized, you select which input to **input** by clicking on the field below the "In" designation to the left side of the track you want to record to in Multitrack View. Note that input 1 show up as "1L"; input 2 as "1R" and so on.

You do the same for outputs by clicking on the "Out" button. Once you start finding your way around the conventions it gets very easy.

Cant' record in computerAA

Go to options and setting in which program? AA? If you're talking about there I don't see where it list any place for input devices?

Should my input device be my soundcard?

Options > Device Properties and Options > Device Order need to be correctly set up. Ensure wavemapper is not in use. Ensure the correct device has "use in EV" ticked. Ensure the device you most often want to use is first in "Device Order". If still having problems, try "Try as WDM" ticked or not ticked, depending on which way it is to start off with.
