Changing bridges

Is it possible to change the bridge of a guitar from a tremolo to a non-tremolo? The type of tremolo that I have installed is a standard strat type, with the strings through the body, and with springs keeping the tension. I know there's a name for it, but I can't quite think of it right now. I've searched stewmac.com and warmoth.com, but couldn't find anything that seemed like it would work. Are there any kits that I can buy and are they expensive? Right now I have some wood keeping the bridge from going anywhere, but it's screwing with the intonation of my guitar.

I remember seeing a similar question asked before, and I think the general response was A) it's not gonna look or feel pretty and B) there aren't any easy ways to do it. That's a big chunk o' guitar missing if you put in a standard bridge. You're probably better off just putting in 5 springs in the back and/or upgrading to a better bridge.

I second the idea of 5 springs, for some reason most of the time there are only 3 with hooks for 2 more. Almost any shop will be glad to sell you a couple more for a couple of bucks each. There should be screws (on thr top) which can be tightened to only allow bending down (typicaly 3 near or under the saddles) don't overtighten and strip the holes but snug them down evenly and add the extra springs and this should help a lot, in fact it should cure the problem.
