I am importing tracks off an 8 track recorder into software and mixing down to stereo. Does the soundcard affect the audio at all thats produced onto cd? Or is it bypassed and used only for playback/monitor? Debating on whether I need a new card. Any replies appreciated. Pj

I don't believe the soundcard is involved in the burn process. However, if you are importing those tracks through your soundcard, then the card's converters are being used for at least that part of the process.
