Is Event out of business?

I ordered a pair of Event TR5 monitors from a local store at the beginning of March. I am still waiting for them. Granted, we are in Canada, but normally that would not explain this kind of delay!

The store told me that they had a back-order of TR5s dating to January 2005. I called Sam Ash in the States, and they said they also have some orders on TR5s from April that have not been delivered.

I emailed Event directly. No response. I telephoned them on the number on there web site. I can't get anyone to answer on the other end--I tried sales, customer service, the operator...nothing. I just keep getting fed back into the same recorded message.

I don't want to wait forever for my monitors. I may have to make a different choice--althrough I really wanted the TR5s...

Anyone know what is up with Event?

I just talked to someone the other day at the company. Website is still up. I would imagine they are pretty busy cranking out speakers. The Precision 6 and 8 are very hot right now.

I've had the same experience. A few months ago I tried to get some technical support for my Event Ezbus. I could not get in contact with them at all. I e-mailed both tech support and sales several times and tried all the different phone numbers over a 2-week period. NOTHING. So I have no idea what's up.

something i'd like to follow into myself...they are a bitch to find in canada, i'm planning on purchasing the tr6's and the only thing stopping me is being able to buy them somewhere. i'm trying steve's music in toronto, but they're waiting for a shipment, and they're telling me they're having horrible shipping problems right now...so who knows how long that will be...

ps. they're $550CDN from steve's music... (b4 tax) does any of you guys know anywhere cheaper in canada i can get them for? thanks...appreciate the replies.

You might want to consider cancelling that order and going with monitors from another manufacturer. It's not like Event is the only company making monitors. I consider it a bad sign when it's hard to get hold of people at the company when you need help or advice. Not to mention that you've had to be without monitors this whole time.

Some gear manufacturers are amazing when it comes to responding to customers and potential customers. Those are the ones you want to be doing business with.

I have a pair of Mackie HR824's and a pair of KRK V4's. I'm happy with them, and they shipped right away. My brother has a pair of KRK ST8's that he likes. Look around, I'm sure you can find another pair of monitors that you'd like.

i agree sonicalbert, its unfortunate, becuase i don't want to business with a company who doesn't look after their clientele, but when they make your favorite product, its hard to go elsewhere. personally i liked the event tr6 much more then the krk's in the same category.

I just called them again, today, exactly 5 minutes ago and got through to Josh in tech support. This was on the first try, did not have to wait at all.

Josh indicated that they were in the middle of expanding to a new warehouse and the phone systems have been having a problem. He also asked me to inform everyone that the new phone system is being implemented in a few weeks and that should alleviate any problems.

jamie_drum here is their contact information.

I finally got through to Event yesterday. They acknowledged that they had had some supply problems which were slowing production but said that they should be shipping TR5s within a few weeks. Let's hope it's true!
