two track drum recording

i'm recording a band tomorrow LIVE. i have three mic channels i can dedicate to the drums, but only two tracks to record them to. should i mix the kick and snare to one track and the overhead to the second? i could then use the low and high eq as a makeshift volume control during mixdown. or should i mix the overhead and snare together and the kick on a separate track? that way i can really focus on getting the kick and bass thumping together... or finally, the snare on its own track so that i can get have some separation to get the right sound? thoughts?

See my response last night to the "Recording in a bar or club" thread (homerecording.com/bbs/showthread.php?t=156233)in this forum for a description of a technique that works great and fits your channel budget like a glove. Use the 3 mikes as described and stereo sub-buss them and you have a great live natural stereo 2-track recording of the drum kit without the extra bleed that can come of using overheads in a live situation.
