wich software has the best effects (built in, not vst's)?

hi everyone,

im wondering wich software has the best effects, especially in terms of reverbs...

i have cool edit pro 2.1. and pro tools (though i never use this one and dunno where the damn install disc is)...

i find the effects on cool edit very usable...but i really want to know if there's something out there i might be missing in terms of reverbs on software (not vst's...just reverbs that are already there)...

my sound relies lots on reverbs, so i really want to get the best i can in terms of software..

any views on this?

tanx in advance..

Just a side note: even the effects that come with a sequencer are VSTs (or RTAS or whatever). They may be standard in that they come with the program, but they are still plugins. The only non-plugin "effect" I know of is the build in EQ on every track in Cubase, and it sucks it makes me wonder why they didn't just leave it out.

hey Halion,

yep, i realize that they're all plugins, but, for instance in cool edit pro u cant add more, wich, if the program sucked, would be very limiting.. :/

i just really want to know if im missing out on something special out there, not owning any outboard fx and relying lots and lots on reverbs..

You could buy a single good reverb plugin, like the Waves Rverb (part of the renaissance bundle but also for sale as a single plug in). Shouldn't be too expensive.

Ah, well, the Waves Rverb costs 200 dollars new. You might be able to get an educational discount (if you are a student ofcourse) but it will still cost you. You could ofcourse go the try-before-you-buy way, but if you ever want to go the legal route, a good verb plugin will last you a long time and eventually, you will find that it was worth the money.

I to went in search of the best effects I could find, just like you I am a poor basterd making due. Among my trials I tried :

NUENDO - hated the reverb, loved the interface
COOL EDIT - kinda liked the reverb , hated the interface
WAVES GOLD BUNDLE - loved the reverb for a natrual vibe
SAMPLITUDE - The best iv heard so far.

Now I can say that the samplitude reverb im talking about is kind of a little add on called the "impule respones pack" And the verbs and room simulaters have been great for making my close mic vocals sound like it was recorded in a good room.
