Question Mackie 808S vs 808M

Hey guys...

I'm kind of looking into these powered mixers...

what is the real difference between these two?

some online dealers actually have the 808S cheaper than the 808M...some have it the other way around. I know one is supposed to have a stereo option...is that only if we'd use our band in stereo? say pan the guitars a bit or something? Is that the only difference?

Is there a case where (depending on our band needs) that we'd want one over the other?

thanks!

I think thats it...stereo and mono.

At this level of PA, you don't get a lot out of using stereo, unless part of your sound is the surreal swirling stuff like some people use. For anything else, you will end up alot happier with a mono mix with small scale PA.

Strave will become famous soon enough
I have the 808M and I've had it for around 4 or 5 years... the effects unit broke within a year and I really doubt it's pumping 1200 watts out. But it has been a faithful workhorse. Anyways... it's 8 channels and mono and the S is 8 channels and stereo. I'm almost positive that's the only difference.

It won't pump 1200 watts unless the impedences are matched right and you run that thing at full capacity. I know what you are saying though. Wehave 4 of them in rental inventory. All of them have taken a real beating on outdoor rentals and stuff, but they still work. I am sure that the amp in there is not to high quality though
