stepped on cord of headphones, nomore sound, can i fix it?

well,
one of the bandmembers i recorded today stepped on the cord of his (read: MY) Fostex t-7 headphones,
the cord didn't break off or something, but there's no more sound coming out of the cans... i find it a bit weird,
they didn't even fall on the ground, no wires broke...
i'm trying to take them apart as i speak but since there are no screws i'll probably end up breaking them open...

so what happened to them? what exactly stopped working?

guess i can throw them away..

Can you solder? If you're going to record, you have to learn to solder and use a VOM. They're your best friend.

Sometimes the little wires break somewhere between the jack and the headphones and not actually in the headphone part.. That is the worst kind of problem.. Hard to locate and hard to fix..

But Track is right you have to have a GOOD soldering iron around and a Meter... I would also recommend some liquid flux and GOOD solder.

i can solder but i'm not super good at it,
nice point you got there, the wire might be broken "somewhere in the long wire" ...not at one of the connections...
i'm gonna totally break them open and try to put another HP-wire on...
i'm affraid its gonna be a mess and won't work,
but hell, at least i'd have tried it..

the last headphones i had that were broken still worked on one side,
here they're totally dead..

ps, whats a VOM ?

VOM Volt Ohm Meter, also referred to as a Multi-Meter.
