trouble with sound

hello everyone.

A month or so back I traded my pc in for a laptop(top of the range). When I brought my laaptop I also got an external Audidgy 2 NX Sound card. I am using Adobe Audition 1.5 and also Cubase SX I ve installed everything but I cannot put a signal through from my mixing desk to the laptop

can any one help??????
