decent overheads?

My overhead mics are seriously lacking right now (CAD GXL1200s, $100pr), everything kinda sounds... boxy and dull through em, it could also be the room, but hey, i want new mics
anyway, i mostly record rock, the rest of my setup looks like this:
Audix D6
3 SM57s
3 Radio Shack e604 copies
Audio Technica AT4040
through a
Firepod, DMP3 for whatever, and I like to use an RNC while tracking on whatever seems to need it.

now, I like how my AT4040 sounded as a room mic, so would that be a good choice to get another and use them as overheads?
I also hear good things about Studio Projects C4s and Shure SM81.

What do you guys use?
and yes i've used the Search function!

i have the at4040 and sometimes use it as a room. it is a great mic, although for OHs, i would go for the Matched Pair of Rode NT5 Mics. i hear great things about them as overheads.

Enzo, AT4040's are excellent OH mics. I'd recommend them over a pair of C4's or 81's. You've already got one 4040, so getting into a pair will be more economical for you anyway.

I really like my 4040, and i could probably get another new one for $200-225, that probably looks like my best bet!

If you found it at that price new jump on it. AT ran some specials on that mic fairly recently and somebody has some left!
