Red face New equipment - new at everything

Starting new home recording studio. I am a therapeutic storyteller, Previously worked at small local studio - now transferring to my own. On a budget. Currently have the following:
[B]Peavey PV8 Mixer with CBI GA1 American-made Instrument Cable (6 ft.):
Marshall Electronics MXL V57M Studio Con (withshockmount):
Ultimate Support MC40 Tripod Boom Mic Stand:
Edirol UA25 USB Stereo Audio Interface:
Whirlwind MC20 XLR Mic Cable (20 ft)
on order: Sony CD/Tape recorder Player SNYRCD500C

Adding a new computer. Budget is pretty maxed at this point. How am I doing with this equipment to start?

Could someone walk me through each piece of equipment and fill me in on what each does?

Of the forums?

edit = click edit to 'edit' one of your posts. If you posted it, but realise you forgot to mention something, you can open it up again later and 'edit' it.

quote = click this to include the words of another person's post in your own post as a 'quote'. Click where it says 'quote' underneath the post they made. You may want to draw attention to something they said so that you can answer it, or so you can comment.

eg...

Look, try not to take this the wrong way, but how did you manage to buy all that gear and not know how to use it?

Unless you were kidding, in which case, I'd say I didn't get the joke...
