Yamaha DD-55? Is it worth it?

Hello,
I am looking for a new drum pad setup with foot triggers to do percution or just drum tracks on my Zoom MRS-8.

Does anyone have any experiance with or own the Yamaha DD-55?
Is it any good? Does it trigger as well as the lower line yamaha electric drum kits?
Will I regret buying it?

Thanks for all your input!

-Blaze

Arrow I bought the Yamaha DD-50 about 5 years ago.

It's great for what it is, and I've never regretted it./DA

I found a used DD-50 and bought it yesterday but returned it as it had some major issues...... It was cool though.
I think if I got a new DD-55 And babied it it would be killer. Thanks for your help!

Blak Jak Balla is on a distinguished road
You can hear bad examples of the DD55 at the link below. Bossa Nova Jehovah is the most recent thing I have done with the DD55.

Anyone read "Recording" mag? There's a great section called "Readers' Tapes" in which a pro engineer/producer critiques readers' recordings each month. I've noticed in the past that one area of frequent criticism in these reviews is the use of drum machines/loops. With that in mind, I was surprised to see some electronic drums actually praised for a change in the critiques in the new (June) issue:

"The tones from the Yamaha dd55 are unquestionably some of the best that we've heard from a non-live kit. Outstanding!"

Looks like I'll have to find one of these Yamahas to try.

P.S. I just read the critique again and noticed that the drummer (using the Yamaha dd55) also used live cymbals on the recording. As we all know, that alone might explain some of the great sound, but I still plan to give the Yam a try soon.
