Just a Quick thing..

Hi, Im using a IBM Labtop, which has:
-a processor of 1200Mhz
-248 MB of RAM
-Pentium Centrino
I beielve that this labtop can do a fairly job for my home studio. Now back to my question, if I decide that I should buy a powered speakers, how would I connect it to my comp? This my theory:
Computer--> Headphone Input--> A cable connecting with a mini-stereo plug with two RCA plugs --> An adapter that changes the the RCA plugs to a standard 1/4 inch plug --> Powered Monitor Speakers such as this: http://www.musiciansfriend.com/srs7/...se_pid/608893/

Is this how you connect it a comp to a powered monitor? Plz correct me if Im wrong.

I think that you meant to say headphone output?

The headphone output is probably going through a cheap amp circuit in the laptop. See if your computer has a line out. I would use that instead. Self-Powered speakers also expect a particular line level. I would guess that the laptop is using -10dBV. Make certain that your speakers match this level as well.

See the following regarding line levels:
