ATR magnetics update

I've just noticed that ATR's tape site now has actual content.

http://www.atrmagnetics.com

..the news itself is not so good, since they appear to be having power issues with the factory site they had chosen. This puts the schedule back. I guess I'll have to try and find some Quantegy tapestock. My supplies are running really low, man..

Thanks for the update. At least it's good to see their website is taking shape. This stuff takes time. I'm sure Quantegy will be rolling em out in buckets before ATR or RMGI.

There has always been that cynical voice in my head saying the ATR prospects could be a ruse. It would not have been in their best interest for tape to appear dead over the last few months.

I don’t think that’s all it is though – I hope not anyway. But I’ve lived too long to take what people say at face value. We’ll see.

When I think of ATR, the first thing that pops into my mind are LARGE DOLLAR SIGNS!!!!

I can only imagine how they'll price their seemingly over-rated tape. How can they claim how good it is before they even start mass-producing it

I'd much rather have consistent reels that all perform exactly the same, than reels that sometimes sound miraculous, and sometimes don't. Quantegy and Emtec have definateley mastered the consistency of things. Anyone ever stumbled across a defective Ampex/Quantegy or Emetc reel straight from the factory.......................?

I have had my share of bad reels of Ampex tape. So have every pro studio I have ever worked in. Ampex was good tape when it was made correctly. You just have not had enough reels to get burnt yet.
