Unhappy

I have an Ensoniq ESQ1, Roland 505, MIDVERB II, various guitars, PA, etc. and I like to record. When my old Studiomaster Studio 4 bit the dust I thought that I would move up to the Tascam 644 Midistudio. I am not stupid, but I have had a hard time creating music while trying to run this recorder. I have the manual, but I just don't get the "scene" thing and can't seem to quickly lay down my music without getting mired in operation. I am ready to chuck the whole thing if I must and go to something else, but I'm hoping that I can give it a last ditch effort. Anyone out there? Any suggestions?

Paul
