I've just made my first foray into computer based recording and am wondering if I should keep or sell my TASCAM 38 8-track 1/2"x10.5" Reel to reel which is in absolutely mint condition. Also have a Teac A3340S simulsync 4-track 1/4" machine in near mint condition. Are these machines of any use any more?
Any advice from you sages out there? |

TEAC Reel to Reels
If I were you, I'd hang on to these gems, especially since they're in mint shape. There may be instances where analogue 4 tracks would be handy. And these machines are such workhorses. They last and last.

yeah..my 38 and tascam 22-2 have sat idle the last couple of years for the same reason. I actually find that my Gina card and the DAW sound cleaner and just as good....if not actually better. I use the Wave Rennisance compressor on stuff and it keeps things all nice and smoooooth. If not for a huge archive of old personal recordings in which I like to get a kick out of listening to once a year or so, they would be on Ebay or Digibid.
