Anyone played an Ibanez AS73? Its like an ES-335

What are your opinions?

Are they worth the money used at say....$100, no case?

I would probably swap out the pickups and maybe the whole electronic guts, but is it a well playing guitar if its a good one? I don't feel like driving out to waste my time (or the sellers time) if its not a decent guitar to start with.

I'm in love w/ my Ibanez AS73. Its defiantly my favorite and easiest guitar to play. For $100 jump on it. If you hate it you could always just resell it and make a $100 dollar profit at least

Unless there is a serious problem with it. Check it over and play it before you buy it. There may be a reason they are letting it go for $100.

Just trying to play devil's advocate. I'm sure it's a sweet deal...

Rokket's got a point.

So many times I've bought defective gear for 30-50% below retail b/c I thought it was a good deal (they advertise it as clearance sale, or weekend only). Granted, I always got it fixed, or replaced, but sometimes it can be a hassle.

Ya, but this is a used one form a private party. Not a store.

Though, it could go for more, it also isnt' too far from what a used one should be worth considering it doesn't have a case. Its does, but its an Epi case and he wants $125 with that included, which I might do, but I was more concerned with the guitar.

I see. Well, for what it's worth, i own an AFS75T. Bought it around Valentine's day. I love the way it plays, though the pickups seem weak to me. But this is coming from a guy that's been using high output soap box pickups for the last 5 years. Not sure what the 2 models have in common, but I say for $100, there's not too much to lose.

don't know that particular model , but I have an AS120 (artstar...made in Korea, not in China as the artcores are), and it is a killer guitar. I know the Artcore line is a little lower end than the Artstar line (the Artstars were ~$1000 guitars, not made anymore), but for $100...if it plays right, why the heck not?

I have an AS83VLS and LOVE it. It is one of my favorite guitars, flat out. It plays clean, jazz, blues, rock, and even some metal (not nu-metal)... Put a set of Snake Oil Strings on it and bingo!

For $100 man I'll buy the thing! As long as there is no warping or significant problems, that will be a keeper - without a doubt. Once you try the Artcore series, you will have a hard time making yourself pay $1500+ for a Gibson... really.

Well, it turns out the thing had a few stickers on it and when he took them off they left the residue that I am more than familiar with (not the sticky stuff, but the smear stuff than always looks like a smudge. Since I am only buying this for the body and neck, I don't really want to spend a $100 on an ugly finish.

Oh well.
