Korg Extreme Vs. Ronald Fantom

Hello all !
I've been looking to buy a new keyboards and I've narrowed my search to these two keyboards (both in their 88 version).
Their price is almost completely identical so its not a factor in my dilema.
Does anybody have an opinion about these keyboards ?
Which one has a better sound ? (I'm more of a pianist so the sound of piano is especially important. Iin general I'm more fond of authentic sounds than to synth sounds like in elctro music).
Since I'm intending on buying a keyboard with weighted keys so I guess that the quality of keys themselves and their mechanisim is important too.
And what about versatility ? Which one do you think will last longer before I get bored with it ?

I'm stuck in this dilema for quite some time and I really want my new keyboards so any help will appreciated.

Neither. I would get the Yamaha Motif ES8 instead.

Its Roland BTW - not Ronald.

never been a huge fan of the yamaha motif's...personally i'd go with the fantom-x tons of awesome features in that keyboard, and if you've been in the store playing these things to death, i'm sure you've touched upon all the details you need to know.

I know about the Yamah motif but it costs alot more (and actually I'm not really a big Yamaha fan).
Can somebody tell me their thoughts about these keyboards (not just which one he'd pick).

I would pick the Roland. I hate their customer service but I couldn't buy anything with "toobs" in it and certainly don't want an "extreme" keyboard, unless I'm going to jump a shrub on it.

If you're more into great piano sounds, I'd tend to think that Roland overweights Korg. I still think that the piano sound in my old JV-90 was far better than any stock piano patch in my Triton.

However, the Triton is an incredible machine and as an overall keyboard (features, control, sounds, options, etc), I'd normally recommend it to anything else. Once you try its touch-screen and see how easy things around are by using it, you get forever spoiled. At least I did, and I was skeptical in the beginning, but now I'm a huge believer.

As usually recommended, the best way for you to understand which is best for you is to swing by a music store and try them out.

The Roland is the way to go - I love it. It has some of the best piano sounds you'll find. It also has an internal DAW with a mic input to record vocals tracks.

I had the triton 88 key and switched to the roland fantom x-8.

Best decision I've ever made regarding gear. This thing has everything I need. I play in a modern rock band, and the most important sounds are my Piano and my RHodes/Wurly. Not only does my fantom do an incredibly good job of recreating everything from the basic sound of the instrument to an authentic sounding fender tremelo, but it also has pretty colour pictures of each instrument to show off to your friends

It's definitely a fantastic workstation, and I've had tremendous success gigging and using it in studio. I get compliments everywhere I take it. The playability/hammer quality in the keys is pretty close to the triton. I have a yamaha concert grand and my fantom is a bit closer to authentic feeling. Slightly heavier than the triton.

so true about showing it off lol...some newbie to music comes over, and could easily be impressed by the colour display showing the instrument you're using. of course not the reason to buy a keyboard, but it sounds awesome and just a nice little touch. personally for orchestra sounds i'd get something like Quantum Leap East West Symphonic Libraries or Vienna Symphonic Libraries cause they're much better in those areas, although the roland sounds great, its going to take time b4 a hardware keyboard will be able to compete with the velocity switching on software...think about it VSL is 240gigs. 'nough said.
