all in one keyboard

Im looking to start putting some piano/random sounds into my songs. I dont want to have to mess with rack stuff or midi, so can you guys reccomend an "all in one" keyboard of sorts. I basically just want analog "1/4 inch" outputs. Any ideas. Looking to spend about 200.

oh, and what about something with an updatable library. Anything like that?

$200???

Yamaha PSR series, unless you want to take a chance on Ebay and used gear.

You won't find anything "updatable". Keyboards have set voices burned into their chips. Thats why a MIDI keyboard and a sampler program like Kompakt, Sampletank, etc. is so heavenly; you can add instruments out the wazooo.

Sure, both Korg and Yamaha make rack-mounted versions of their synths. All you have to do is add a midi keyboard controller to them to play. And since they have sampler capabilities, you can add sounds to them.

Oh, just one thing.... they're $1,000.

Save your pennies.

I've been waiting for Walmart to break into the business. Flood the market with inferior products....might make my sound better...hmmm.

Go for a PSR instead

Do not go for a Casio the Yamaha PSR series would have something for you trust me.

Hi,

You can try the "one man band" program. It cost about $35 and you can use your computer keyboard to play or buy a small midi keyboard and hook up to your computer.

"Band in a box" is also a good software. That is the cheapest way to go. I don't think you can find any good keyboard for $200.

I have a Yamaha DGX which i bought online without even testing the sound out, and fortunately enough the thing sounds awesome, especially with my M-audio BX8 monitors. Even when i went into guitar center and played all their arrangers my Yamaha still had the best sound, guess i lucked out.
I would stay away from low-priced Casio boards though, they just sound like garbage. By the way my yamaha was $300.
