Tascam FW1884 and Cakewalk 4PE issues

I just bought the 1884. I installed the latest update of the 1884 as well as the other updates according to the website. I have two computers...both have different problems...

On my desktop it recognizes the board, but whenever I press any of the buttons on the 1884 nothing happens.

On my laptop however, everything works perfectly, except when I play back a file, it drops out...I'm assuming some settings issues?

Here are the specs for both machines...

Sonar 4 PE
Audiophile 2496 PCI Card
Tascam FW1884
#2-Dell Laptop w/ 3.1 Ghz P4
1 GIG RAM
Sonar 4 PE

Any help would be appreciated...thanks in advance.

tried removing/disabling the audiophille?
