Jan GE 6072a tube in a modded M9?

I've got a pretty good sounding M9 right now. I made a number of mods to it and am currently using a JJ 12AX7 which I'm happy with.

I've been curious if buying and trying a Jan GE 6072a tube would be worth the effort. I know I'll suffer an 8 dB loss of gain which is ok but I am curious how such a tube swap will impact the sonics. Will the mic sound pretty much the same but lower gain? Or will the 6072a really make a noticable change in sonics? The mic is not at all noisey now so noise reduction is not an issue.
If there is a pleasant change in sonic character I would be interested in trying it.

It seems most audiophile grade mics these days are using the 12AX7 tube where high end mics use the 6072a. Why is the choice of a 12AX7 for a gain stage in a mic considered less than ideal?

Any thoughts on this would be appreciated.

Bob

I was hoping someone has some experience with this type of tube swap? Maybe?
