Drum machine help.

Hi. I was wondering if you could connect a drum machine to your computer and record directly. I use Cool Edit pro as a recording program, in the settings you can change devices that are hooked up to your computer, currently I have a guitar port connected via usb. It lists the guitar in Midi in (sync/trigger) it works perfectly. So i was just wondering if say I hooked up a Boss Dr-880 to my computer would it record the same way.If not please help me with this.Thanks.

I'm not the most midi gifted guy in the world but AFAIK you can hook your machine to your computer and record the drum machine's patterns as midi events but they won't be the actual sounds from your drum machine. This is usefull if you want to program on your drum machine but play drum sounds or samples from your computer.

Do you have any kind of line in? You can record the drum machine's line outputs as audio, but syncing it to MIDI later might be tough. But to record it you'll just need the right kind of cable. What is your soundcard?
