Mic-Pre to soundcard output question
Just wondering which outputs are best for going into my soundcard from my mic preamp.
the outputs of the pre are either jack or xlr. the inputs on my soudncard are either xlr or phono. is it best to use xlr - xlr or use jack to phono? would the signal be affected by the choice of output/input i use? or does it not matter as the signal will get there anyway regardless of whether i use the xlr or jack output? sorry if this doesnt make much sense, i had a big joint for breakfast.

It all boils down to just two wires with a metal case.
TRS and XLR give you some noise shielding (useful it you detect noise or are making very very long cable runs that might pick up noise.) Other than that, just use what works. The shape of the jack doesn't affect anything.... |
