ugrade from sx1 to sx3

i went to guitar center and learned that i couldn't upgrade from sx1 to sx3. at least not the common way that is to pay the 99 dollars and get the new version . i was basically informed that if i wanted sx3 i'd to shell out the $600.

that's messed up, i'm hoping to hear that the saleman at GC was just trying to make a bigger commission,
at their website i couldn't find any info on upgrading from sx1 to sx2 or 3

we purchased a beta product i.e. cubase sx basically reported all the bugs helped them create a better product. i'm running cubase sx with minor problems but paying full price for the latest sx is a bit painfull

That sounds funny. I'm running 1.06 and was thinking of upgrading to 3.0. I was just searching their site for the prices but couldn't find them. Anyway, they state their upgrade policy...

Upgrades
With an upgrade, you switch to a higher version of a program within the same product family. An example of this would be an upgrade from Cubase VST to Cubase VST/32.

Sounds like SX1 to 3 is a go.

Contact Steinberg directly - I'm sure they have an upgrade from SX 1 to 3...
