question - best way to trade?

I am attempting a guitar trade; there is no exchange of cash. just the shipping of two pristine vintage guitars in opposite directions. Is there a standard way to cya? an escrow account or something? how do you people normally go about doing this and not getting ripped off? I am fairly confident in my counterparty, but I want to make sure they are confident in myself as well. thanks.

You can use an escrow service like escrow.com, it's like $25 or so. Just treat the deal like a sale, and deposit the value of the guitar in escrow.
