My Wharfedales Came Damaged!!!!!!!!

Can someone give me some advice. Both of my Wharfedale's were messed up in the mail by fed-ex and I dont know what to do. I cant reach deepwater and Im afraid I am at a $300 loss. Should I contact Wharfedale Pro since its a 5 year warranty or do I just suck it up. Do i make a claim myself? I really would like some nice grade A speakers. Any ideas would be appreciated.

shipping

If you dealt with Deepwater you probably don't have any worries, from posts.
but hang in there he' travels, according to threads.

You say FED EX messed them up? Box damaged is the first thing they'll ask.
Sounds like FED EX should cover them, if box is damaged.

if box is ok....

Any Shipping Insurance?...you should check that out first.

If box is ok, maybe damaged pre-FED EX?
less than 30days....ship them back...using FED EX.
Always insure the shipment for replacement cost.

Also contact your credit card co. and cancel payment.
Your credit card co. should back you...you purchased "new" not "damaged".
You didn't get what you ordered.

Deepwater will probably pull through and send you another set, he's pretty good about that kinda stuff... eventually. He can be hard to get a hold of though. Just be patient for a few days.

My speakers were both lost in the mail, and he sent me another set... one of which never came. So apparently one more is now in the mail again. Heh. Looks like I've somehow eaten up 5 speakers.

Hey Bleyrad,

What ever happened to that comparison of the Wharfedales to the Yorkvilles?

Yup, it's coming as soon as I get my new speaker and have a few days listening.

Right now, just comparing one speaker, I can tell you that I don't like the Wharfedales as much, though they're growing on me a little.
Their biggest problem is in the bass. Doesn't seem to be anything at all going on below 80Hz, and around 90-120Hz is very wooly, exaggerated, and loose sounding compared to the Yorkies.

Still I don't want to draw any conclusions until I have both speakers.

I just hope these speakers come soon I have some serious projects I want to work on. Deepwater do you have any idea how soon it will take to get them. Is there any more information you can give me about the order?

Thanks to all who replied

That sounds about right, given the published frequency response charts, and depending whether you engage the bass cut or not.

Mine came damaged too. Well, one came damaged and one didn't come at all. The only thing that has been done so far to remedy the situation is FedEx came to pick up the damaged one. So, here I am, after ordering from deepwater on the 11th of February with no monitors and $355 less in the bank.

Damaged speakers suck!!!!!

HeyHeyMyMy,

Thats horrible news. I hope I dont have to wait that long. Hearing that kind of news scares me. I just hope Im not at a loss. Theres no shady business going on right? I just want a perfect pair of speakers and this is taking way longer than expected. That was pretty much my last $300. Guess Im just gonna have to roll with the punches and see what happens.

If you ordered them from deepwater you should send him an email about it. I've ordered a pair through him, and was curious why they were taking so long. After emailing him, he informed me that Wharfedale currently has them on backorder. No biggie. He has a great reputation on this board. I don't think there is anything to worry about.

that sucks. Damaged and Backorder.

your issue is a positive for the brickn'mortar's...real store.
you just take the sht back,
the manager brow beats you, the sales guy pressure you...but hey,
it's over and done with quickly. no shipping.

knock on wood...i been lucky on last few ebay purchases, but its a fhkng Wild Frontier...no telling what the hell you'll get in the mail.

I laugh at these dumbasses who pay more than Retail...like this dipsht who just Bid $590 + shipping ~$40 for some USED B&W 602 monitors....
that you can buy brand new for fhkng $600 out the door.
funny..and bizarre..

Yeah, situations like this definitely make the local music shop look better and better. At least you always know they'll be around and won't leave you hanging for weeks at a time having to waste money on renting other monitors. The "deal" I was getting has definitely been offset by the cost of renting... should have bought locally. I asked to just forget the whole thing and get my money back a week ago and I've gotten no response. I know the guy has been around too since I've seen him posting on the board.

I know some of you guys are waiting for replace ments and such. I just got aprroval on 12 Fedex claims and all of those are going out. Thats right 12 damage claims with Fedex Ground. Some warranty replacement have where never shipped by Wharfedale for some reason and I'm all over that.

I've been way to busy to handle all of this stuff and stay on top of it as I should have. Once, I get all of these order shipped and replacements taken care of I want be doing any online selling for a while until I can get a better system. Its to difficult for me to track and ship orders, do warranty claims and Fedex Damage claims when I'm only home 15 days out of the month.

I still have plans for an online store, but it will be on hold until I can find someone full time to run it for me - anyone want a job in the Southeast Georgia area.

My goal is to offer first class service and I just can't do that at this time while I'm traveling so much.

Thanks for understanding

Wharfedales are a mess!!

HEYHEYMYMY,

I couldnt agree with you more. This was and is my last online purchase and it couldnt have gone any worse than it did. No email responses, product delivery was horrible, no communication and the list goes on. I agree brick and mortar stores may have been a better choice and this might have just been a waste of time and money. And the speakers arent as impressive as everyone states, honestly I was kind of disapointed. Too much shadiness and too much hype. Satisfaction not guaranteed.

online World WIde Web and FED EX fhk ups

go read the thread on For SaleGEAR...damn!!! fake scammer steals $$$$$
off selling sht right here on this webpage.
I wouldn't worry Deepwater will take care of it, read the posts, there
are a whole bunch of positive threads.....
but yeah brick and mortar's have their positives.

I have bought numerous things online no issues.
Been doing some Newbie EBAY and have come out ok.

I almost bought the Deepwater Wharf deal, but it only saved ~$30
once you add in shipping for me?
And after reading his threads he's gotten too busy he said.

Online:
Kinda like Ebay where this dumbass spent $590 on some
"USED/UNKNOWN" B&W602 speakers and
plus shipping + $40 thats $630....
when you can buy BRAND NEW 602's for fhkng $600!!!
all day long???wht the fhk? dumbass.

You should get your money back, there's no question there...
and that should only take a few minutes to e-tronic the cash,

i'm just babbling..who gives a fhk....good luck

Yeah, it's too bad things didn't work out. The only place that sells Wharfes around here want $399/side. Which is obviously ridiculous and I told the guy he's never going to sell any. I'm going to go with the Yorkville YSM1p's I think.

I've bought a lot of things online and never had a problem. Everything has arrived within a reasonable time and I've never gotten anything damaged. I still haven't received my money back from Deepwater. Hopefully that goes through soon. What a terrible experience this has been. Live and learn I guess. Hopefully yours works out Musicislife.

good luck

if i buy wharfs it would have been the UK built Yellow-Kevlar cone's.
thats the one Massive recommended anyway, started all this.
well, some pro recommended 'em to him..yadyayadayadaa

i mean if Eric Clapton says " i like my 1962 US standard Fender, highly recommend it..has great intonation, sound...blah,blah,blah...".

doesn't mean if I go buy a chineese built 2005 "Fender" it will
be the same as he refered to?

the funniest post was the "new Wharfs arrived.."
"my tweeter crackles, unless i put my finger on it, then the crackling stops...but I LOVE THESE SPEAKERS!!BOTH my l.e.d's work tho!!"
or some sht like that.
thats how crazy it got... Wharf-beatlemania.

Ysm1p

Well, I was going to get the wharfies but decided that it was just easier to go local and get the Yorkville's, here in South Surrey, B.C. To be honest, after all the reading and hype about both, I'm just finally glad to have my monitors here and it's doubtfull you'd notice any difference between the two. They both get the same reviews for all the reading I've done, and that's a lot. I'm SURE you'd like the Yorkvilles if you got them. YMMV.

Yes indeed. I was originally going to get the Yorkvilles but decided at the last minute to order the Wharfes from deepwater to save some money (I'm a broke student). Well, almost 2 months later I've got nothing except a big bill at the local music shop from renting monitors so I could get tracking done which I promised people I'd do for them, assuming I would have had my monitors in reasonable time.

I can't get the Yorkvilles now until Deepwater refunds my money... so, you know, Deepwater, have at it man. You've got my PayPal info.

also check out the KRK rokit series, all the ones at long & maquad (within BC) have been sold out, that might say something
rokit 5 has a punchier/tighter bass, and alot cheaper
ysm1p has a lot of high mid, if you love genelec or dynaudio's techno smile sound, you might not want this to be your only set of speaker

Yeah, I was going to check the KRKs out as well in store. One benefit is they have KRK's at the other music store in town so I wouldn't have to give any more money to the bastards at Long and McQuade. haha.
