Cool Darla screws up new computer

Hello. My Darla card which has worked fine for the past six years will not work properly in my new computer (Dell Dimension 4700, P4 2.8Ghz, 1Ghz RAM, 160G HDD, XP Home).

Once installed the sound is static and video is choppy. I have tried using the Echo Drivers 605, 608, and 611 (or 612- whatever the latest one is) and I get the same result. Sound and video are fine without Darla, but then I can't record music.

Any help is appreciated. Thanks

are you using another audio card then as well.. there could be conflicts. I use a layla24 (it was in a dell dimension), but i removed all other audio cards (1), and in my current setup, i turn off the motherboard based audio in the bios.

Thanks. I'll try the BIOS thing. Hopefully that'll work.

i had the same problem.
it ended up being an IRQ conflict problem.

with the latest "beta" driver available for the Darla 24 you should be ok.
Maybe try disabling the onboard sound card (if you have one) or removing a few other pci cards. Once you get Darla 24 installed and working, then add them back one by one.

This did it for me when I moved to XP OS, maybe it will help you.
