I just tried a M-Audio Tampa Out Today for the first time with a KSM-44 Mic. My comparison was a Joe Meek VC3...
It was clearer than the Joe Meek I think...But If I was to do it again, I think the DMP3 is nearly just as good, or as good...I also like doing compression later on, and as a "warm" effect not just limiting, so the compresson on the TAMPA won't be of much use to me (I don't think)...

Well if you've got the money for a Tampa, why not kick it up just a notch and get a nicer, completely dedicated preamp? At least, that's what I'd do hehe.

I have that combo. What's your application? The 319 does ok on acoustic, but I have an SM81 that I like better for that. However, for my voice the 319 and DMP3 seem to work well. Bought a "used" 319 from GC, probably a returned one. After all the talk about the Oktava QC issues, I didn't know what to expect. But it was very inexpensive, and I have been pleasantly surprised by it.
