tom delonge's amp settings, guitarist in Blink 182

What settings does tom delonge use on his amp for clean and for his dirty sound?

Cool

The only setting that I am sure he uses is to have the Suck knob on ten.

His amp settings aren't really going to do much for you unless you have the same guitar, pickups, amp, tubes, speakers, pedals, mics, eq, software plugings, and anythign else used to create the sound on his albums. Not trying to get you down or anything, but your best bet would be to just start turning knobs untill you get something close. Otherwise there are just too many variables that will make the same amp settings sound different.

HAHA

I also don't like his sound, justy a matter of opinion. I know he has a signature strat with only one humbucker. I really can't believe there are ppl out there who would pay for such a guitar.

Strave will become famous soon enough
His live sound sounds just like his recorded sound. He also doesn't use any pedals (unless they are in the back) If you get his signature strat or mod your strat and use a mesa rectifier you should be able to work it out with experimentation. It's most likely about that invader pickup (I tihnk it's an invader). Anyways, I think he's got a good sound. Good enough to sell millions of records.

Even if you had all his equiptment, and settings, .....it will still sound like you.
Pick attack, vibrato, dynamics...you can sound more like him even with the wrong gear if you master these.

On the matter of wether or not he sucks, Anyone who is happy doing what they like, in my book is successful.(and talented)

People payed for the Peavey VH guitar, with one p'up, no tone control, and an unfinished neck. Just goes to show ya.

I've actually modded a bunch of my guitars to be like this. Especially for playing live, that's the easiest way. I HATE tone knobs unless I'm playing jazz, and if you can't control your guitar with your fingers and a volume, get practicin'

Selling millions of records is not an indicator of talent or ability at all. Mainstream music is 99% about what trends the labels decide to tell people they like...

Most people don't choose what they listen to, it's chosen for them.

He also has a gibson or epi model, can't remember which, can you say "sell-out", yeah I race for Ford annnnnd Toyota...could it be the money?

If you have the equipment and some idea of how to play like him, which shouldn't be hard seeing that he only uses downstrokes when playing, you should EASILY be able to play around with the settings on your amp to sound like that. Start with the gain and adjust till it sounds right, then do the eq.

...

it's obvious that no one knows, go to a blink-182 message board and see if someone snapped a shot of his amps during a show or something.

Gear

Tom Delonge has a Custom Audio Electronics RS-10 MIDI Foot Controller, and he doesn't only do downstroke. It's true he often does them when i find it much easier to do up en down strokes. Me and my band play alot of Blink covers, i own his strat signature model and even though it only has one humbucker and one knob and i love it, all those extra knobs and all those pickups are just in the way. I own a Boss overdrive/distortion effect pedal and it kinda close to the sound Tom gets.

Delonge splits his guitar signal to the JCM9000 and the Triple Rectifier, so they're both running simulatenously. It mixes the best characteristics of both, the Mesa's big bottom end and the Marshall's trebly bite and midrange cut.

He claims he likes simplicity, hence his guitar having one pickup and just the volume knob. Yeah, with that kind of rig you can tell how serious he is.
