Do some searching here on the bbs. Many people have been satisfied with the Wharfedale Diamond Pro 8.2a's purchased from Deepwater (a member here). I just purchased some and have been happy with them so far. Also, go to a local store and have a listen.

any thoughts on the Event 20/20 V2 or Event 20/20 Bas. I've heard they're pretty good and was thinking about getting a pair. Not too sure what the difference is between them or even if they're any good!

They're very good, but I can't remember the difference. The original 20/20 was powered and the amp was in one unit. Then the next model was biamped and had amps in each speaker. There was also a set you could get that was passive. You can get those really cheap but then you'll need an amp.

I found a pair of Event PS6 monitos on eBay for less than $300 including shipping. I'd stay away from woofers smaller than 6".

I have Event 20/20 passives. I love them. You won't go wrong with those. They are great monitors. I like them a little less after working with mackie 824s but what are ya gonna do.

they're Wharfedale 8.2A (active) i think deepwater has them for $305 including shipping .
I just placed an order with him.... everyone gives them great reviews.

the event 20/20's are sweet but theres no way you can get a set active or with amp for $300 even on e-bay

ive seen bad reviews of m-audio.

might want to also check out:

tannoy (not proto-j)

event tr-6 (middle of the line ps-6=bottom, sp6=top)(ps=project studio,tr=tuned reference, sp=studio precision---- i think)

also watch out on e-bay... i saw many misrepresented monitors (ie. selling an 8.1 as an 8.2)(selling en event ps8 as an sp8) ... and some of the scratch and dent or used models have indented tweeters.... turns them into crap.

Emusician did a shootout of budget monitors last month and the Event's came out on top. The article isn't up online yet, but it should be soon.
