Thumbs up Some events are just fun: Greg Koch on tour in the UK and why you should see him.....

Okay first and foremost I should give you this www.gregkoch.com so you could check it out for youself what Greg is about and his style of humour and................

So now that you know who he is I will tell you about my meeting with this man and the general vibe of the night and if you are still interested you may even want to check this cat out for yourself.

Greg played here in Leeds in the UK last Monday as part of his Hal Leonard tour. If you are a guitarteacher [or student of the guitar] you probably have come across Hal Leonard before as they have many good instruction books about general, basic and more specific guitar techniques.

Greg first of all explained how he got involved in the gig with Hal Leonard [rewriting tutor books, updating them, modernizing them so they may appeal more to the guitar folks who want to ROCK OUT ect.]

After this brief introduction he took us through one of his books, which served as a guideline for the night. He demonstrated some hot chicken-picking, volumeswells with the volume knob and bending behind the nut techniques. All was done in good taste with a lot of smiles and tasy noises.

Throughout the night Greg used a Cybertwin[ which he happily admitted he would not use for doing his own recordings ] and a US Strat Deluxe with the Bill Lawerence pickups.

If you are a teacher or just a player or just a Guitar Dude you can pick up a great deal from this guy, you will have a great night out and you even get a free Hal Leonard tutor book, so nothing to worry about eh?

At the moment Greg is still in the UK and here are the tourdates as they are not on his website!:

# Wed. 16th March------------------ Sheffield at:
Sound Control at 6.00pm
tel: 0114 221 3007
# Thurs. 17th March------------------- Milton Keynes at:
Chappell of Bond Street MK at 6.00 pm
tel: 01908 663366
# Fri. 18th March------------------- Bristol at:
Sound Control at 6.00 pm
tel: 0117 934 9955
# Sat. 19th March------------------- London at:
Wembley Guitar Centre
tel: 0208 900 9090

admission is free.

If you are not aware of Greg you may like to check out his website as he does workshops all the time, most of them will be in the US but I feel he travels all over the globe just to spread the goodness of the guitar, and music in general, around.
If you would like to check out his cd, well that is possible too as he has one out on Steve Vai's label, and when you hear him play you can imagine why Steve digs this guy. Oh do not think this is just about tapping and .... ..........no this guys can do any style just as good as any other guitarplayer , it goes from Rock to Country to Blues and Back to your Mum's golden oldies, so really he is the real deal.

Okay enough now [no I do not get paid to do this , just enjoyed the night and thought you may want to check him out too ]

Oh by the way we used to put up links here, but I just noticed that mine does not work, what would I need to do to active it? I admit happily that I play around more with instruments than with the PC but I open to all your kind suggestions. -------> Oooohps Sorry just noticed it does work, so I can still do it!! Great, so nothing to worry about then

Cheers,

Eddie
