Getting Ready To Build

Attached is a studio I saw. I'm going to build something similiar to that. It will be U shaped. I'm not the handy type, My question would be what type of wood should I use for the table top? It looks to me that there are 2 x 4 for the legs? Any suggestions are welcome.

If you're not handy, perhaps you might consider checking out the local office supply house, there are plenty of workstations like that. You can limit your handiness to installing rack rails in one of those desks
