questions about eq
the best thing i ever learned about eq was to use less of it, haveing said that.
whare is air? my recordings never seem to have it. no, i wont abuse this knowlege, but i'd like to know. also, i know that mud is usually about 310 or so, occasionally i find myselfe making cuts around 500, and for my money 7k can be problematic on vox. what advice/things have you noticed about eq? whare do you commonly cut? |

The 16kHz+++ region is generally considered "Air". A little high shelf boost at 16kHz can help with that.

1. Listen for problem areas.
2. Find the problem area by boosting and sweeping. 3. Cut the problem area 1db at a time until it sounds right. Making a habit of always cutting at 310hz is going to leave many of your recordings sounding really thin. Same with 500hz. A lot of power comes from those ranges. |
