Tascam 424 MKIII and phantom power

Hi, i've been reading these forums for about 2 months now and have learned a lot so thanks to everyone for all the information on these boards. I have a question about the Tascam 424 MKIII which i am currently considering buying. I apologize if this has already been answered but i looked around and checked the tascam website and some reviews of the unit and couldn't find the answer. Does the 424 MKIII supply phantom power? If not, is there a way for me to supply phantom power to a mic without having to buy a phantom power supplying mixing board?

Thanks for any help, and if by chance this has already been answered please just tell me so and i will keep looking for it.

i dont know if the MKIII has pahntom power or not but the MKII hasn't. If it hasnt then a phantom supply unit can be purchased or a mic pre amp unit.

I dont know much about phantom power supplies but i suppose a phsntom power supply is a phantom power supply!

Art make one for $39.95

Or

A Dual channel one for $59.95

Or if your loaded you could buy a really nice tube preamp by Avalon($1999.95)

Alternatively you could do what I did and Buy a Behringer Mic200. People will say bad things about behringer on here but, I paid £30 for mine and it provides me with phantom power and also adds some warmth to the signal. U cant complain for the price!!

I would also vote for the purchase of a mic pre which also has phantom power. No sense in spending the same money twice. For just a bit more you can get a mic pre which you will need anyway to help boost your levels on the way in to th 424. Dave
