female vocals

Wondering what you all seem to like to use for female vocals. I was considering the Rode ntk, but I just read in another post something or other that they seem to be a little harsh for high register voices??
I have the studio projects b1, and I like the way it sounds, but I think maybe a different mic would suit me better since it's mainly female vocals being recorded. Any recommendations? 500, or less? I am running vocals through a safesound p1. You can hear a recording from my website that I recorded using the studio projects b1. The song is "this ghost" for more of an idea of the musical style, which as you all know it is difficult to describe one's own music. http://corrientesmusic.com/music.html
thanks,
evt

i hear the at4040 and at3035 are choices people like..someone also talked about the mxl v69 tube mic. that may have been for brighter vocals though.

I'd try an ADK Hamburg which should match up pretty good with your vox IMHO. I listened to the ghost and your vox are reminicent of the female vox from the 60's which is very cool. Here's a Hamburg right now for a pretty good deal. Good luck.

i was going to say "jumpin jehusaphat!" at the price but then i realized that the at4040 is $249-299 and the at3035 is $125-199 and that sits right in the middle. i cant listen to any music here at work cause someone jacked my headphones

I really like my Groove Tubes GT66 on my girlfriends voice. There really hasn't been much this mic didn't sound good on.

rdozz is on a distinguished road
I use a AT4047 for "high register voices", and a lot of other voices too. Really a great mic. My wife is a 1st soprano and this mic works for her.

thanks for the replies.
Ljmaxx, the adk Hamburg looks cool. It seems to be a good choice from the description for my vocal style. I do tend to sing in a 60's influenced oldies style.

A lot of options here. Have any of you tried out the adk Hamburg? What do you think?

It's hard to decide because I haven't had the opportunity to try many mic's at all. But, I think from listening to the style some of you will probably have some recommendations based on your experiences with recording other female singers with a similar style.
thanks everyone,
evt

I have a matched pair of ADK Hamburgs and have used them on a few female vocals like yours. The Hamburg smooths out the highs a bit which on some vocalist's come off as harsh. I don't know if the mic I found on ebay above is still for sale but if so you could buy it and if it doesn't fit your vox put it back up on ebay. It would be an easy way to see if it works for you and you really wouldn't be risking much money to find out. Good luck

EVT, the ADK Hamburg would be a great choice. And if you're going for that 60's sort of vintage classic sound, the MXL V69ME tube mic does that really well.

Hello everyone,
It seems like 2 of my posts became intertwined. But, both with the mission to find a good vocal mic to complement my vocal style.

I ended up ordering the adk hamburg on ebay for $197 total.
Thanks for the info, and for taking the time to listen to the music. It's greatly appreciated!
